One Book Project: Celebrating Financial Literacy at Shortlidge Academy

One Book Project: Celebrating Financial Literacy at Shortlidge Academy
Jasmine Paul author

For the past five years, Shortlidge Academy has proudly partnered with Dr. Bonnie Meszaros, the Center for Economic Education and Entrepreneurship at the University of Delaware, and the TD Foundation to bring "One School, One Book" to life. Through this initiative, students have engaged with influential books that teach important lessons about economics, saving, and spending. These experiences motivated them to take action by raising funds for their school and others in need.

This year, Shortlidge Academy selected Granny's Vintage Camera by Jasmine Paul. It is a beautiful story that teaches students about value and responsibility and offers a multigenerational perspective on money. After sharing with Ms. Paul the impact her work had on our students, she graciously accepted our invitation to visit Shortlidge Academy on April 8.

Thank you, Ms. Paul, for visiting and inspiring our students as we celebrate the ongoing partnership with the Center for Economic Education and Entrepreneurship. The Center's mission is to prepare K-12 educators and students in economics, personal finance, and entrepreneurship by providing dynamic, effective, and standards-based professional learning, resources, and programs.
